Moose & Me is an inclusive bakery built around a simple belief: adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve meaningful opportunities to work, contribute, connect, and thrive.
It Started With a Bigger Idea Than Cookies.
Long before there was a Moose & Me bakery, there was a vision for a more inclusive community.
More than 15 years ago, Megan Elder began creating opportunities for teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build friendships, experience belonging, and be fully included in their community. As Megan and her husband, Justin, built their family, that vision became deeply personal. Their daughters, Mila and Audrey, both of whom have Down syndrome, made the need for meaningful opportunities in adulthood impossible to ignore.
Mila — affectionately known as “Moose” — loved being in the kitchen. Baking together became part of family life, and over time a bigger idea began to take shape: what if something she loved could become something that created opportunity not only for her, but for others like her?
That question became Moose & Me.
What began in a family kitchen grew into an inclusive bakery where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can earn a paycheck, develop skills, build confidence, form relationships, and experience the pride that comes from meaningful work.
And while the purpose was always bigger than the cookies, the cookies still had to be ridiculously good.
From a Family Kitchen to a Bakery
What began as an idea at home became real when Moose & Me opened its doors.
The bakery was created to be a true workplace—one where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities could earn a paycheck, take on meaningful responsibilities, develop new skills, and know that their contribution mattered.
From baking and decorating to packaging orders and serving customers, our team became part of the everyday work of running the bakery. And as customers began walking through the doors, Moose & Me became something more: a place where people with and without disabilities could work, learn, and connect side by side.
Opening the bakery was an important milestone, but it was never the finish line. It was the beginning of what Moose & Me could become.
Meaningful employment. Ridiculously good baked goods. One place where everyone has something to contribute.
